Mechanical Product Designer (PTC CREO)

Our client, a manufacturing company supplying the food industry, is looking for a Mechanical Product Designer.

• Produce cost-efficient designs of commercial cooking and holding equipment and their related accessories with minimal supervision;
• Material and fastener selections;
• Produce fabrication drawings in accordance to ASME Y14.5-2009 standard including GD&T practices;
• Produce support documentation such as BOMs, service drawings, electrical schematics, etc.

Requirements:

• DEC in Mechanical Engineering;
• 5 years of experience designing sheet metal components using PTC Creo;
• 2 years of experience with finite element calculations on sheet metal components using CREO Simulate software;
• 5 years of experience designing structural, load-bearing components (other than basic box enclosures) using sheet metal;
• 3 years of experience drafting mechanical fabrication drawings (parts and assemblies), according to drafting standard ASME Y14.5-2009, including strong understanding of GD&T practices and weld call-out conventions;
• Basic understanding of material properties and surface finishes for various metals including stainless steels, aluminum, galvanised and mild steel sheets;
• Working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel;
• Driver's licence and access to a vehicle for occasional visits to local suppliers.
